ARTICLE TITLE: YOUR BRAND IMAGE IS YOUR SUCCESS IMAGE

To brand a product or service entails more than packaging the product; it includes giving the product or service an identity to hold unto in today’s market.

Now just try and figure out how branding of a person’s personality would be like. Personality branding encourages a boost of confidence in one and it entails giving yourself a distinct definition and identity in today’s world.

For example, the queen of England’s personal image is more recognized than even some other queens; while? it’s simply due to personal branding and not just the wealth she carries. The same goes to other powerful and most respected people in the world.

“The way you dress is the way you will be addressed”. That’s true but for only first impressions and encounters which could be retained or discarded from another person’s mind. What registers you, your product, service or your company in the public’s heart even after the first impression or advertisement encounter is the quality or standard you or your brand carries plus the originality and uniqueness in your brand and your style.

Remember I said “originality”- that is being me even when others aren’t around –and- “Uniqueness”- being special and known for something distinct in character, style, confidence, hardwork, leadership traits, skills, e.t.c. Uniqueness comes with creativity and this is what stands you out and certainly carves out a niche for you.

Your brand should truly speak volume of who you are within and without, it’s not about faking it or trying to act like someone else, it’s simply being matured and truthful. Pleasing others even at the expense of setting a goodwill or positive image about the brand you represent would lead to your downfall.

As a person, never settle for less, look at the resources you have and try to make something good out of it to look up to standard; for your product or service, always strive to obtain quality tools, raw-materials or goods; inferior materials must be excluded. This would then increase your good image, customer patronage or people’s compliment and increase your success in life.

Also, do more research into how to make your brand better; if you are a motivational speaker for instance, you could take a few classes on presentation and etiquette skills, attend seminars in different fields, meet with other experts or successful people in different fields, e.t.c.

You must also have a mentor or guardian to look up to or study and put you through different branding styles or strategies fit for you, your business, product or service. All of these plus many more only helps your brand image to be your success image.

THE BENEFITS OF PLAYING “THE WAITING GAME”

Written by: Boluwatife Nathaniel Awofadeju

Waiting and standing on one point is simply a game. “Life changes everyday but sometimes it feels like life is on a stand-still” – do you sometimes have that feeling daily? Well, if you do, that is totally normal.

First of all to really survive your moments of delay, see it in two folds and think of it in two dimensions. It might be a test of your faith from God on how you can hold on to him till you get due answers or it might be that some protocols are being over-ridden on the way to getting you your required results.Always note that everybody has his or her moment of joy and celebration and their very own moment to shine in domination. The most celebrated individuals in life are celebrated today simply because of the way that they conquered life even when they were faced with situations that looked or seemed like a dilemma. In all, the focal point here is on resilience and determination. Never forget this- no matter the situation that you are going through at the moment, God is always there to see you through; he is closer to you than you ever think, he is not far as you presume but he is near and standing by your side to hearing your pleas, guiding your footsteps in this journey of life and helping you out.

Or perhaps you are not working on your clear-cut purpose or mission on earth. Have you taken the time to always ask from God for your divine assignment in this world? If you have not done so, then ask him to reveal it to you and to speak to you in the language that you would understand. If you and you are working towards it and you are on the pathway thereof (that is, you are on course and in motion); then congratulations, enjoy your days of personal fulfilment because nothing feels better than living a fulfilled life. But if you are the stubborn type that is not ready to follow suit, then you would just be wasting your time, energy and effort in doing things that are not necessary even if money is spinning through such means; it still would not last long and to you, life may just be revolving in circles but if par adventure it does, you would grow tired and bored of it. Therefore always note that one’s interest(s) and purpose are two different things. Also, what works for person A does not necessarily have to work for person B or you; the reason being that everybody’s path to success defers, what is applicable and convenient for one person might be applicable and convenient for another, applicable and convenient or not applicable and not convenient in the same vein; you cannot just say or read people’s minds, only God knows best.

Never compare yourself with anyone and never let anyone to look down on you. Thus, always have faith in God for every situation that you face and believe in yourself always. In a unique way, you are great, confident and special and you have got all that it takes to move yourself to the next level, your only opposition is YOU. Do not try to exactly be like someone else, never try to fit into another person’s world because sooner or later, you would not know how to tackle and handle certain situations simply because you have been living in another man’s picture; it is only the original person that you are trying to copy and imitate that can handle such situations with or without stress and having the courage to fully bear the consequences of his or her actions and decisions at that time, so remember to take a clue from that.

Infact, create your own legacy. Though if you feel that continuing in another person’s legacy is what you have interest in and it is your calling or it is what drives you going in life, then go on in such legacy but you can also modify or re-create your style even in such light. You could even create an entirely new brand out of such existing brands and names. Take for instance, the late Fela Kuti and some of his children taking after him or former United States president George W. Bush and his son George W. Bush II or the global business tycoon Wale Adenuga Jnr. having his son working with him to reposition his company’s brand. There is not a crime in that; in as much as you are doing something that is legitimate, economical, ethical or beneficial to people you know, people around you, the community, country and the world at large. Everyone is welcome on board in as much as you are fulfilling destiny, taking territories and touching lives positively then continue in your mission; do not stop until your death because once you stop or die, those connected to you (present and future) could die also or could get their dreams, hopes and aspirations shattered, destroyed or not achieved.

Also, do not dwell on your past or on your past mistakes and errors because the truth is this- your past is simply your past and you cannot erase it but you could use it as a catalyst to correcting and rewriting your own better future. So therefore, think about the future and see your future NOW!!! Forgive yourself for your terrible mistakes, learn from your flaws and errors and MOVE ON; do not hurt yourself and get yourself sad and depressed. Just let it go, do not give yourself unnecessary stigma and do not be moved by the stigma, names or tags that people might give you either because of your past misdeeds and errors or about your present situation or condition. Just take it in good faith, use it as a reason to pray to God asking him for the provision, the strength and the grace to move on and eventually become a success in life.

Keep fit, eat, exercise and empower yourself regularly (both physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, academically, socially, financially, sports-wise and so on). Always strive to be a total man, one that is willing to learn from others and still work towards striking a balance in all that you do and striking a balance between work and play. Do not joke with these two things “work” and “play” and give your body adequate time to rest always, it is very important.

Set targets and goals for yourself to keep you moving ahead but remember to be realistic, just as the saying goes ‘Rome was not built in a day’ and ‘it is the little drops of water that makes a mighty ocean’. “Step by Step” are to be your “modus operanda”, never do things in a hurry, do not rush at decisions and actions. Take your time to handle issues properly and be detailed in your work in terms of the quality and content and not just about quantity and size. Remember to always be a critical risk-examiner and a thorough risk-taker but never run away from risks, challenges, leadership positions and opportunities, tasks and responsibilities; it simply makes you stronger and better. So, just find a way of breaking such complex tasks to simple fun-filled tasks, roles and routines for you or simply have a guide or a plan to put you on a steady course to actualising such goals, duties or tasks.

During your waiting period, what do you do with your time? How do you spend your time to your own benefit and for the benefit of others, time is money you know. It is paramount to have a scale of preference on the things that are necessary in life and the things that matter the most; always have a daily, weekly or monthly schedule of the tasks and activities to do. Asides from that for precautionary reasons; do have a backup plan for any task that you want to do, never let life catch you unawares, be prepared for any future occurrence whatsoever. In addition, work on yourself, upgrade your skills, go for trainings, enrol for internship and mentorship programs under seasoned minds and experts in various sectors of the economy (whether it is the private, public or the non-profit sectors) depending on your preference(s)and interests. While learning under your boss or mentor be humble, be willing to learn and take to corrections and instructions, be open-minded and be broad in your thinking and in your perspective about life and the skill or the course that you are learning. You can also attend seminars and free workshops on various skills that you do not even know; it is not so bad as you think you know because no knowledge in life is a waste, it all depends on how best we use the knowledge that we have for a positive venture or cause. Considering the fact that we are living in a tough society and being realistic about life’s issues, it is more preferable to engage yourself in a productive activity than to sit down at home being idle, lazy and doing nothing. Once you have something that can sustain you and keep you going in life, you would be able to settle down and think deeply of the next line of action to take to moving yourself forward.

While in the course of waiting, be sensitive to issues and occurrences that are going on around you even in your business line, your course of study or the skill that you are learning; be vast, versatile and updated because change waits for no man, all of these are still part of the process of upgrading oneself. While doing that, be open to criticisms and know how best to handle comments from different people. It is wisdom that is the principal thing so never take all issues personal; at the same time do not overlook certain issues or comments that people make irrespective of the kind of upbringing, class or status the person that is suggesting such ideas to you are coming from. Never look down on people and do not underestimate the potential in anyone; you do not know their future and you do not know where else you two could meet yourselves, which is while it is good to be good, to be kind and to sow a seed of love and kindness to everyone around you. Forgive and forget about your differences with others at least just to live a healthy life and to take yourself to the next level.

And in terms of criticisms and comments from people about you, the kind of business that you are doing, the goods and services that you produce or render to other people; be ready for anything. Your foes would simply be jealous and they would see nothing good in what you do, your friends could like you, your goods and services and your business in general but true friends would be frank, honest and factual with you. Though some of the comments and reactions may come as a shock to you and that is if you were not ready for them or if you least expected them; still greater shock and revelations would be unveiled when you dig-deep and carry out secret investigations about your business, staff and your staff behaviour and conduct and amazing revelations about your company’s overall goodwill and image even in the eyes of the public.

While waiting be rational, critical, analytical and realistic about the decisions and options that you are going to take in the next phase of your life, business, political race, career or ministry. Make out time to think through your actions and decisions especially on the immediate and future effects that these decisions would have on other individuals inclusive of their dependant(s). In short, learn to think with your heart and not your head, this means that you should always be a rational thinker. But be smart and wise in your dealings with people, learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others (experience people say is the best teacher, remember) and when you are faced with life’s little puzzles to put together or solve, talk to God and then ask people (especially elders, mentors, colleagues, religious leaders, your team members and so on) irrespective of the position, the social, educational and financial status that you have or of those of the people that you are seeking for advice from; it depends on your manner of approach or the way that you table your issues to them, remember – it is wisdom that is the key to solving life’s issues and avoiding future disputes. This has definitely answered questions about situations when one is faced with sudden events that needs urgent attention and prompt actions. Remember that as humans, we cannot know all things and that is while teamwork sometimes helps. Asides from that what matters is the person and the places that you run to for help when such situations or events occur.

In addition as a smart person, you must also be ready to pay the price for success; do not be in a hurry to make it in life by trying to cut corners on your way to the top, learn from your little beginnings and be thankful and grateful to God for everyday that you live to experience the two sides of life’s coin – that is, be grateful and thankful for the good and bad times, just pick out the little lessons that you have gained from such experiences; use it to better yourself and your daily activities and add it to your wealth of wisdom, knowledge and experience(s), it will simply aid your growth and charge you to always be proactive and vigilant to life’s issues. Asides from that, do not limit yourself in your dreams, your goals and aspirations. Do not limit God’s ability to helping you succeed, think big and live big; begin to live the big picture now all in moderation (that is, do not do things out of proportion and out of your full capacity), dress properly, improve on your diction, social, interpersonal and public speaking skills, improve on your oral/dental and body health, your body odour and personal hygiene; just take good care of yourself, be presentable and marketable always because it is not a crime to package and brand yourself and your business in a different light.

Do not mingle with mediocres and negatively influencing people, they simply stain and dent your image; have great and positive friends, role models and icons that you look up to everyday. This simply means that you must be unique, dynamic, different and special everyday; you have to stand-out of the crowd and carry yourself with high self-esteem, prestige and confidence (truly speaking that is not pride in any sense of it), that is what would position you to be THE STAR even amongst other stars; if you do that daily, then you would even surpass your very own expectations and the high expectations of others as well, the sky would not just be your limit but it would be your very own starting point.

Be honest in all of your dealings with people and be a man or woman of integrity. Always stand by your words and let your words tally with your actions. Be hardworking because there is no food for the lazy man; put in your very best into everything that you do and leave the rest to God’s hands because in due time you would eventually come to realise the fact that in all, your waiting was not in vain; it was simply for a gain – YOUR GAIN and it was indeed for a due and genuine reason.
