POEM’S TITLE:      WHY THE BAD PRESS?
WRITTEN BY: BOLUWATIFE NATHANIEL AWOFADEJU

Everyday the image of an individual is tarnished,
Everyday our country’s name is soiled,
            What a pity,
Why?
5          Why do we give ourselves a bad name?

From suicide bombings and robberies-
To kidnapping and sabotaging,
From assault, manslaughter and genocides-
To black-mailing, frauds and associations,
10        As you know the list goes on…
I’m simply fed-up of all of this.
Why?
Why do we give ourselves a bad name?

Must some individuals be so irrational?
15        Irrational to kill themselves or others or sometimes themselves and others?
I just don’t get it,
Some rulers are fraudsters,
Reapers of what they didn’t sow-
Later leaving remnants for the oppressed and silent people in the society,
20        This is just giving us a bad name,
This is what we simply call bad press.

Away from the leaders,
And now to the followers,
We are simply complex to understand,
25        Too complex to even understand our individual selves and problems,
Talk less of understanding the needs and problems of others.
Some individuals just love wars and fightings-
They are not cool with peace at all,
They are simply comfortable with a place full of chaos,
30        These are wicked people,
They mustn’t live to see the light of the day, right?
But let me give you a shocker,
They are numerous in this world today,
And we simply can’t do anything about that.

35        All we can do is to re-orientate them,
Not just them but everyone else (inclusive of ourselves),
We all need to reappraise ourselves regularly,
To check-mate our excesses,
To deal with our weakness,
40        And to live rightly in today’s society.

That way we all can be happy,
We would have corrected our bad name,
And left the bad reports from revolving around us,
That way unity, peace and tranquility would truly exist in diversity.

ARTICLE TITLE:   MAKING YOUR MISTAKES RIGHT

A mistake is an error or omission performed by an individual or entity knowingly or unknowingly, consciously or unconsciously as it’s in most of our prayers.

As humans, we must accept the fact that this world is built on errors and undoings; so it’s simply natural for it’s (i.e. the world’s) habitators to make a mistake or two. Still, a rational human-being who knows that his/her actions would yield to fruitless rewards and a bag load of troubles and still persist to continue in such narrow path is clearing out his or her own path to destruction and digging their own grave; thus one would be dead while still living.

No one is perfect and nobody is all too good or honest to not backstab, gossip, steal or commit one offence or the other; it’s in our human nature to do so but still we can all be at least civil enough to do ethical and moral things that would be good and beneficial to us; the rule of law; our family and friends and community and in top-most priority be obedient to our God.

When you have made a great or little mistake, abomination, “sin”, whatever error you have done, what do you do to yourself as at the moment of self-realization.

Firstly ask for forgiveness from your God, friends and those you have offended. Pray for forgiveness for those you don’t have the courage to go and meet but you want their forgiveness.

Restitute and give back what you have stolen to those that have being offended; forgive and forget; though it’s not easy but for peace and love to reign and to prevent future health and conscience problems/threats, we need to do this.

FORGIVE yourself and MOVE ON with your life. Don’t get entangled in your previous vomit. Don’t think of the worst, e.g: suicide or exclusion from the otherwise world, e.t.c; still relate with descent and positive influential people. Learn from your life consequences.

Share your burdens, problems and experiences with others; that way you learn from your mistakes and it could make you feel better. Keep living a positive and balanced life; life is too short and sweet for you not to enjoy its good parts; be bubbling and smiling again; who knows you could get a blessing in disguise.

With all that said; remember “do unto others as you want others to do unto you”, forgiveness (for yourself and others) heals; while hatred and vengeance scatters and brings the world to disarray. Let’s try and make our mistakes right; correct our errors ad make the world a better place to live in.
